PACE Central Michigan Breaks Ground on New Houghton Lake Center

On April 24, 2025, PACE Central Michigan officially broke ground on its second Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) site, located at 120 Cloverleaf Lane in Houghton Lake. The new center marks a significant expansion of services for older adults in Roscommon, Crawford, Otsego, Ogemaw, Oscoda, and Missaukee counties, as well as surrounding areas. It aims to help seniors age in place with dignity and independence.

PACE Central Michigan’s expansion is made possible through partnerships with developer Bruce Dietz of Alpena, Architect Lance Bickell, Michigan Masonic Home, Isabella Bank, and the support of the PACE Association of Michigan.

PACE Central Michigan gratefully acknowledges a generous $250,000 grant from the Herbert H. and Grace Dow Foundation, which is helping make this critical expansion possible

Special recognition goes to the Houghton Lake Chamber of Commerce for their warm welcome, coordination support, and commitment to community connection.

Happy HR professionals day! Meet Barbie! 💙💚

Hi, my name is Barbie, and I’m the HR Specialist here at PACE Central Michigan. I’m proud to share that as of June 24th, I’ll be celebrating six years with PACE! It’s truly been an honor to be part of such an incredible team that works hard every day to serve our participants with dedication and care.

Throughout my time here, I’ve had the chance to grow both professionally and personally. I began my journey as the Medical Records Specialist/Quality Assistant and also took on the responsibility of recording minutes for Board meetings. When the opportunity came up, I transitioned into the role of Data Encounter Specialist. Later, when it was determined that the role was no longer needed, I moved into the Scheduler position, which also involved managing the pend report. I’ve also been actively involved in every audit we've gone through.

For the past three years, I’ve been in my current role—and I can honestly say I absolutely love it! It truly feels like the perfect fit for me.

Outside of work, my world revolves around my family. I have three grown children, two amazing sons and a beautiful daughter—as well as a son-in-law who is truly the best of the best! I’m also blessed with six wonderful grandbabies, ranging in age from 13 to 2. They are the light of this Mema’s life! The best feeling ever is having them run up to me yelling “Mema!” and wrapping me in a big ol’ hug—that kind of love is truly priceless.
