MMCF Grant Supports Compassionate Comfort at End of Life

MidMichigan Medical Center-Gratiot’s mission is to provide excellent health services to improve the quality of life for people in the community.  This extends to those who are experiencing end of life as well.

The Michigan Masonic Charitable Foundation presented a Masonry’s B.E.S.T. Grant to MidMichigan-Gratiot in mid- August to help them establish a new comfort care suite that will offer 24-hour care, in a home-like setting for persons at the end of life for whom home care is not appropriate. The suite will provide much-needed space for family members to gather and have privacy while meeting with social workers, pastors, health care providers and others.

Without the suite, family members visiting with the patient, are all too often forced to wait in the hall or in waiting rooms away from the patient, making it difficult for them and the patient to work through their end of life experience with peace and privacy.

The suite will to open in January 2020 and will serve between 25-50 patients by year’s end.

Thank you for your continued to support of life-changing programs like the Masonry’s B.E.S.T. Grant, offering compassion and care that reach far beyond our walls.
