Three Generations of Masonry
Erwin Burton Walling, Timothy Walling, and John Pendergast, all members of Myrtle Lodge No. 89, shared not only a commitment to Freemasonry but also a strong work ethic and dedication to their families, careers, and communities.
All three were employed by Ford Motor Company as experimental painters, where they earned the respect of their colleagues through their skill, loyalty, and hard work. Erwin remained dedicated to his profession until his passing in 1969. Timothy retired after 30 years of service, and John also devoted 30 plus years to his work at Ford. Each took pride in a job well done and exemplified the values of commitment and integrity throughout their careers.
Erwin was also believed to be a Shriner, further reflecting his dedication to service and fellowship. As Masons, all three men embraced the principles of the Craft, living as honorable, upright, generous, and kind individuals. Their character, compassion, and devotion to others left a lasting impact on everyone who knew them.
Their lives reflected the values that Freemasonry seeks to instill: integrity, brotherly love, charity, and service. They were men of strong character who set an example through both their words and actions.
I am deeply proud of each of them and grateful for the legacy they have left behind. Their memories continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know and love them.
