Honoring Bro. Marvin Mack

A Legacy of Guiding and Inspiring Others

Byron Lodge No. 80 | 66-Year Mason

Marvin L. Mack was a devoted husband, dedicated Mason, and cherished family man whose life was marked by service, hard work, and generosity.

On August 20, 1955, Marvin married the love of his life, Shirley. Together, they celebrated an extraordinary 69 years of marriage, building a life centered on family, faith, and community.

Marvin was deeply committed to Freemasonry and the Order of the Eastern Star. Throughout his years of service, he served as either Master of his Lodge or Worthy Patron an impressive 13 times. He was especially generous with his time and knowledge, mentoring countless future Brothers and helping them learn their work and grow in their Masonic journeys.

A hardworking and resourceful man, Marvin built the family home in 1955, where he and Shirley lived for the rest of their lives. His career included selling John Deere equipment and serving as a Ford Parts Manager. In 1980, Marvin and Shirley fulfilled a dream by purchasing a hardware store in Byron, which they operated together until it was tragically destroyed by fire in October 2012.

Family was at the heart of Marvin’s life. He lovingly raised two daughters and a nephew, providing guidance, support, and a strong example of dedication and integrity. The youngest of 13 children, Marvin understood the value of family connections and carried those values throughout his life.

Marvin is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley; his daughters and their husbands; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren, all of whom will continue to cherish his memory and the legacy of love he leaves behind.

His commitment to family, community, and Freemasonry will be remembered with gratitude and admiration by all who knew him.
