Brick by Brick, Generation by Generation
James O. “Jim” Robertson was a man whose life was defined by service, leadership, faith, and dedication to both his family and community. A Vietnam veteran, paramedic firefighter, businessman, and civic leader, Jim devoted his life to helping others and making a lasting difference wherever he served.
Jim was a proud Life Member of Potterville Lodge No. 367 and a Life Member of Brookfield Chapter No. 352, Order of the Eastern Star (now Potterville Chapter No. 413). He was also an active member of Potterville United Methodist Church, now known as Sycamore Creek Church. His commitment to service extended beyond Masonry as he faithfully served as a school board member, Boy Scout leader, and community volunteer.
Within the Potterville community, Jim was known for his dedication and perseverance. Following the devastating fire that destroyed the local Masonic lodge in 2010, he was one of the dedicated Masonic Brothers who helped lead the effort to build a new Masonic Center, ensuring that future generations would continue to have a place for fellowship and Masonic work.
Family was at the heart of Jim’s life. He was the proud father of three sons, two of whom became Past Masters of Potterville Lodge, carrying forward the values and principles he instilled in them. Through his guidance, they grew into devoted husbands, fathers, and leaders in their own right.
Jim also treasured his eight grandchildren, delighting in every opportunity to spend time with them, often sharing his quick wit and playful teasing. His legacy of service continues through his family: one grandson serves in the United States Army, another in the National Guard, one is a paramedic, and another is a Michigan State Trooper. Through them, Jim’s commitment to serving others lives on.
Above all, Jim was a devoted husband who shared 55 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Julie. His love, strength, wisdom, and unwavering support remain deeply cherished by those who knew him.
Jim leaves behind a legacy of service, faith, family, and brotherhood that will not be forgotten. He is dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
