Bringing People Together One Step at a Time
My husband, Calvin “Bud” Dickerson, would be proud to be included in your commemorative archive. He was the first in his family to become a Master Mason and was proud to belong.
He served his Perry Lodge No. 350 in many capacities, including Worshipful Master, where he strived to share this opportunity with his community, encouraging other young men to join. One of the incentives to becoming a Mason was that it gave him the ability to join his wife, Judy, in the Order of the Eastern Star. He was very proud to serve his Chapter as Worthy Patron, once with his wife for the Chapter’s 100th anniversary year, and twice again with other Sisters.
Bud worked as a handyman at Michigan State University and was also a professional square dance caller for over 20 years, teaching and calling for four separate dance clubs. Bud shared his calling talents for years at the Michigan Masonic Home in Alma, bringing in square dancers from around the state to dance and donate to the OES and the Masonic Fair. He also called a dance at the Governor’s Mansion in Lansing for Governor Blanchard, and that evening he shared the microphone with retired Governor G. Mennen “Soapy” Williams.
Bud was a hardworking, loving husband of 63 years, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His happiest times were with his family around him.
