Responsibilities to include but not limited to:
- The Coordinator completes the activity’s component of the comprehensive assessment; to include care plan goals that are individualized to match the skills, abilities, and interests/preferences of each resident in compliance with Federal and State regulations.
- The Coordinator collaborates with the Director to assist with the planning and implementation of daily activities, floor programs, one-to-one programs, special events, out trips, etc.
- The Coordinator will collaborate with the Director to oversee the Resident Council and be responsible for the meeting minutes and follow-up on concerns expressed during the Council meetings.
- The Coordinator will collaborate with the Director to obtain resident input on activity interests through activity planning meetings, as assigned.
- Assisting residents to activities.
- Documenting the residents’ activity participation.
- As assigned, assist the Director in maintaining clean work areas and storerooms.
- Work in collaboration with the Director to promote resident wellness, including behavior interventions, 1:1 interaction, and programming adaptations.
- Follow departmental and facility-wide infection control policy and procedures.
- Assist the Director in taking care of the birds and fish (or any other animals).
Qualifications:
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a health care related field is required.
- A Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) is required.
- A Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) is certified through the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC), which requires a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited university, a formal internship, and the passing of a national certification examination. A CTRS must maintain their credential every five years through the NCTRC recertification process.
- A Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS):
- Must be licensed or registered, by the state of Michigan and is:
- Eligible for certification as a therapeutic recreation specialist or as an activities professional by a recognized accrediting body on or after October 1, 1990; or
- Has 2 years of experience in a social or recreational program within the last 5 years, one of which was full-time in a therapeutic activities program; or
- Is a qualified occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant; or
- Has completed a training course approved by the State.
- Must be licensed or registered, by the state of Michigan and is:
- At least three (3) years’ experience in the health care and or senior care services industry required.
