Honoring Bro. Elgy Brintnall

God, Family, Lodge

Elgy W. Brintnall dedicated 43 years of his life to Freemasonry, living by the simple yet profound motto: “God, Family, Lodge.” His commitment to these values guided his life and left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

A respected Mason, Elgy served for several years as Treasurer of James E. Dillon Lodge No. 466. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite, Valley of Traverse City, and the Shriners in Cadillac. His Masonic service included serving as Past Master of East Jordan Lodge No. 379 and involvement with Sherman Chapter No. 197, Order of the Eastern Star.

Professionally, Elgy was a skilled businessman and craftsman. He owned Elgy’s Auto Body Shop in East Jordan before moving his family to Cadillac in 1965, where he opened a business specializing in the restoration of antique automobiles. In 1978, he relocated to Buckley, Michigan, and later retired in 1988. During retirement, he found great enjoyment in woodworking, creating pieces that reflected his patience, talent, and attention to detail.

Elgy was also a devoted member of Grant United Methodist Church, where his faith remained an important part of his life. Whether through his church, his Masonic service, his business endeavors, or his dedication to family, he exemplified hard work, integrity, and service to others.

Above all, Elgy cherished his family. He and his beloved wife, Willa, shared 53 wonderful years of marriage, building a life grounded in love, faith, and mutual devotion.

Elgy’s legacy lives on through the many lives he touched, the values he embodied, and the example he set for future generations.
