A Masonic Tradition Spanning Generations
My family and I are proud to be part of a long and meaningful Masonic history. My father, William L. Schwab, was a Mason, as were his father, Louis G. Schwab, and Louis’s five brothers. My great-grandfather, Louis Schwab, was also a member of West Gate Lodge No. 520 and, to the best of my knowledge, attained the esteemed rank of 33rd Degree Mason.
My husband Kyle and I had the privilege of attending the lodge’s 100th anniversary celebration, where so much of our family’s history was represented and remembered. Growing up, I learned about the Masons and the tremendous impact this organization has had through its charitable work and dedication to helping others.
I hope that one day my two sons will continue this family tradition by becoming Masons themselves. Until then, I consider myself the caretaker of our family’s Masonic artifacts, papers, and historical treasures, preserving them for future generations and for the next family member who chooses to continue our Masonic legacy.
