The Craft, the Prowler, and a Father’s Pride

Emory L. Smith, Jr. was a proud and dedicated Mason whose commitment to the Craft spanned more than five decades. Initiated into Freemasonry on June 2, 1968, he went on to become a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, exemplifying the values of brotherhood, service, and integrity throughout his Masonic journey.
In addition to his Masonic service, Emory proudly served his country in the United States Army as a medic for two years.
One of Emory’s proudest moments was witnessing his son, Jason Emory Smith, follow in his footsteps and become a Mason in January 2015. Sharing the bonds of Freemasonry with his son brought him great joy and was among his most treasured memories.
Emory was actively involved with the Lancers and was a familiar sight in parades, proudly driving his Plymouth Prowler. He also enjoyed participating with the Crabs, embracing the fellowship and camaraderie that these organizations provided.
After 51 years of faithful Masonic service, Emory passed away in June 2019. He is remembered for his devotion to his family, his country, his Lodge, and the many friends and Brothers whose lives he touched.
