Honoring Bro. James Eastman

A Friendship Forged Through Brotherhood

Lola Valley Lodge No. 583

My father, James Eastman, was a proud and dedicated Mason. He loved all people, but he especially cherished the brotherhood of Masonry. He was initiated into DeMolay as a teenager and joined Masonry as soon as he was eligible at age 21. He enjoyed the many activities Masonry offered and formed countless friendships throughout the years. He received numerous awards and eventually became Worshipful Master of his Lodge. Energetic, ambitious, and intelligent, he was always eager to find new ways to serve and strengthen the Craft.

One of the greatest joys of his Masonic journey began when he met his best friend, Harvey. Jim introduced Harvey to Masonry, and the two quickly became an inseparable team. As retired carpenters, they spent much of their free time at the Lodge, working on projects and enjoying each other’s company. They shared doughnuts with one another and with anyone who happened to stop by.

Their bond was lifelong. When Harvey passed away, Jim was heartbroken. Yet he found comfort in knowing that one day they would be reunited. The brotherhood of Masonry helped sustain him through his loss and strengthened his faith that they would meet again in the Celestial Lodge Above.
