Virgil Strickler was a devoted Christian, a dedicated public servant, and a proud Mason whose life was marked by faith, service, and love for others.
For 47 years, Virgil was an active member of Custer Lodge No. 393, where he faithfully served as an officer and on various committees. Freemasonry was an important part of his life, and he embraced its principles of brotherhood, integrity, and service.
Virgil devoted his career to law enforcement, serving as Sheriff of Sanilac County, Michigan, for 20 years, followed by an additional 17 years with the City of Sandusky Police Department. Throughout his career, he earned the respect of those he served through his warm, patient personality and unwavering commitment to his community.
A loving husband, devoted family man, and man of deep faith, Virgil always placed God and family first. He cherished time with his loved ones and was known for his kindness, compassion, and caring nature.
During the last eight years of his retirement, Virgil enjoyed spending time in Florida, where he pursued his love of fishing and took pleasure in traveling. Whether at home, in his community, or with family and friends, he lived a life of purpose, generosity, and gratitude.
Virgil’s legacy of faith, service, and devotion will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
