My husband, M. Wayne Tutor, was the kindest and most generous man I ever knew.
One evening, we went out to dinner with another couple. As we were leaving the restaurant, a man standing outside asked for money to buy food. He looked very sad and truly in need. Wayne gave him enough money for a good meal. The other man with us said, “Hey, Wayne, that guy might go in there and buy liquor.”
Wayne simply replied, “He might go in there and have a good meal, too.”
That was the end of the discussion.
Wayne could never turn away from someone in need. That was one of the things I loved most about him. To my knowledge, he never had an enemy.
Wayne passed away from cancer in 2013. Even while battling his illness, he continued to take care of others, often going to the pharmacy to pick up our medications. When I told the pharmacy staff that he had passed away, the pharmacist and two other employees behind the counter cried with me. He was that loved.
Wayne never sought attention for himself and never boasted about his accomplishments. He simply radiated love, kindness, and compassion to everyone he met.
Wayne and I were blessed to share 32 wonderful years of marriage together.
