Richard Kik III was born on August 8, 1945. Following an accident at his home, he passed away on August 8, 2022.
In keeping with his spirit of giving, Richard’s tissue was donated to the Lieber Institute for Brain Development. It was his family’s hope that this contribution would support research aimed at improving the understanding and treatment of neurological and mental health conditions, including depression, autism, schizophrenia, and Alzheimer’s disease.
Richard retired from Jarvis-Pemco, Inc., where he served as a Shipping Supervisor. Throughout his life, he was known for his strong work ethic, dedication, and commitment to excellence.
A proud Mason for 25 years, Richard was also a 32nd Degree Mason. Beyond his Masonic involvement, he was an active member of the Lakes Area Conservation Club, the Kalamazoo Rod & Gun Club, and the Southern Michigan Gun Club.
An avid shooter and accomplished marksman, Richard enjoyed many years of competitive rifle and pistol shooting, as well as skeet, trap, and sporting clays. His passion for the shooting sports reflected both his discipline and skill.
Richard was also an enthusiastic reader and gifted storyteller. He had a particular love for history and enjoyed sharing stories and insights with family and friends.
On December 31, 2000, Richard was united in marriage to Marilyn J. Harley. Together they shared a loving partnership built on friendship, respect, and mutual devotion.
Richard will be remembered for his generosity, intelligence, kindness, and the many passions that enriched his life and the lives of those around him.
