On this date in 1826, a formation convention was called for and held in Detroit to create a Grand Lodge in the Territory of Michigan.  The five lodges in attendance would be re-numbered as Zion No. 1, Detroit No. 2, Oakland No. 3, Menomanie No. 4 and Monroe No. 5. Lewis Cass, Past Grand Master of Ohio, would soon be installed as Grand Master in a ceremony at the Old Stone Council House at the corner of E. Jefferson & Randolph Streets, near where Mariners Church now stands.  

Be sure to save the date of Wednesday, June 24, 2026 and plan to attend a 200th celebration in Lansing!  More details to come.
