More than 100 years ago, the Grand Lodge of Michigan recognized the need for a facility to care for senior Masons and their families. In 1891, the first original Masonic Home opened near Reed’s Lake in Grand Rapids.
To meet the financial responsibilities associated with maintaining the Masonic Home, the Michigan Masonic Charitable Foundation was established and supported by dedicated Masons who were determined to give life to the term “brotherhood” not only to the organization, but also to the community.
The Foundation’s charitable focus areas include Masonic assistance to Brothers and their families and supporting community organizations such as promoting literacy, education and public safety, alleviating hunger, and supporting family and youth services. Tackling immediate challenges, enriching lives and deepening the connection between Lodges and their communities is a primary goal for the Foundation.
Since 1891, the Michigan Masonic Charitable Foundation has dedicated its support, whether in financial or volunteer support, to Masons and families, and other charitable organizations around the state. The Foundation’s mission, vision and values align with enhancing lives, whether our own or for those in need.
The Foundation believes that every person can make a difference and positive impact on the lives of others. Gifts to the Foundation ensures that the assistance and relief for our Masonic families, as well as the support we give to build and strengthen our communities, are accessible.
Planning a gift to the Michigan Masonic Charitable Foundation or your Lodge Charity Account is a beautiful way to leave a legacy. Whether giving through personal bequest (i.e. will or trust) or designating the organization as a beneficiary, we have multiple options available for you to easily plan your gift.
We’re excited to celebrate Alma Lodge #244 for achieving the Tuscan Society Award in our Giving Clubs. This recognition reflects their generosity and dedication to making a lasting impact in our communities.
We were also honored to recognize Worshipful Master Darren Thompson for reaching Platinum Craftsman status. His leadership shows what Masonry is all about by setting a strong example of generosity, service, and brotherly love.
Congratulations to Alma Lodge #244 and WM Thompson on these well-deserved achievements!

We were honored to once again host the annual Employee Support Fundraiser & Luncheon at Masonic Pathways. This event is one of our favorite traditions, bringing the community together to support the Employee Support Fund and the staff members who do so much every day.
Thank you to everyone who joined us, contributed, and helped make the day such a success. We’re grateful for the opportunity to support the Masonic Pathways team, and we congratulate all the raffle winners who added even more excitement to the celebration!
