Position Summary:
The Communications Specialist is responsible individually, and in collaboration with others, for the development, coordination, and execution of internal and external communication strategies that support resident engagement, family communication, staff alignment, brand reputation, and community outreach.
This role manages social media, internal resident communications, newsletters, websites, public relation efforts, and community messaging consistent with the mission and values of the senior living organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities to Include but Not Limited to:
Internal Communications
- Develops and distributes resident newsletters, calendars, announcements, and community updates.
- Drafts communications regarding internal and external events.
- Maintains bulletin boards, digital signage, and resident communication platforms as appropriate.
Social Media
- Creates, schedules, and publishes content across social media platforms.
- Captures resident life moments consistent with consent and HIPAA guidelines.
- Monitors engagement and responds professionally to comments and inquiries
Marketing and External Communications
- Supports census growth initiatives and community visibility.
- Coordinates media outreach.
- Maintains and updates website content.
- Develops brochures, flyers, and promotional materials.
- Coordinates photography and videography projects.
- Promotes events, open houses, and community outreach initiatives.
Employee Communications Support
- Helps to support employee recruitment efforts.
Education and/or Experience Qualifications:
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree required in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, Social Media, or related field with a minimum of two years of related work experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Competence in the use of desktop publishing programs, including Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office products.
- Experience in senior living and healthcare environments preferred.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
