The Facilities Technician performs many minor repairs normally associated with day-to-day maintenance. Such minor repairs may include plumbing, electrical, environmental climatic control adjustments, painting, and carpentry. Performs preventive maintenance and inspections on facility, grounds, and equipment. Specific duties and responsibilities vary based upon area assigned, but typically include those listed below.
Responsibilities:
- Oversees the management of the buildings and surrounding property on a daily basis.
- Oversees the bidding process for the purchase of equipment and/or supplies as needed by the agency.
- Calls maintenance providers for service bids as requested.
- Shops for / orders and stores supplies as needed and requested. Stores, organizes and retrieves items from storage as requested.
- Changing of light bulbs, minor electrical and mechanical repairs.
- Assists in maintaining landscaping, weeding and thinning perennials around the building; maintaining and storing janitorial and grounds equipment properly after each use; and distributing ice melting product in the parking lot and sidewalk/porch areas as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience Qualifications:
- Possesses a high school diploma or GED equivalent
- Knowledge of general carpentry and repair.
- Valid MI driver’s license and reliable vehicle with proof of registration and proof of insurance.
- Minimum one (1) year experience working with the frail elderly population.
